2022 Winter Prospect Camp

The University of Chicago Softball program will host the UChicago WinterSoftball Prospect Clinic – January 9, 2022 at the Henry Crown Fieldhouse on campus. Space is limited to 36 participants.

Conducted by the University of Chicago Softball Coaching Staff, the UChicago Winter Clinic is a unique opportunity for prospective student-athletes (current HS freshmen, sophomores, and juniors) to experience the demands of college softball in a positive and instructive environment. 

The clinic will include softball drills and instruction designed to replicate the daily training environment of our current softball student-athletes, along with a competitive live game segment. Each camper will receive hitting instruction and specialized defensive instruction according to position from the camp staff. 

Clinic participants will be able to meet members of the current team as they assist with the clinic and share their recruiting and collegiate softball experiences firsthand. Additionally, an optional campus tour will be available at the end of the clinic session. The coaching staff and current student-athletes will facilitate a discussion on the recruitment process overall and help the campers prepare for their own college research and decision process.

Chicago's COVID-19 Travel Policy

Masks must be worn indoors at all times. 

The Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) weekly COVID-19 Travel Advisory currently includes 40 states and one territory. States are removed from the Travel Advisory when they maintain a daily COVID case rate below 15 per 100,000 residents for at least two consecutive weeks. 

States and territories not on the Travel Advisory: Alabama, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and the Virgin Islands.

There are no restrictions for individuals who are fully vaccinated.

Unvaccinated individuals who are traveling from out of state are severely restricted (see below for restrictions or refer to the link above).  The University of Chicago cannot welcome these individuals (players or spectators) on campus because we would be in violation of Chicago Department of Health guidelines.

Unvaccinated individuals traveling from a high-risk ("orange") state should:

  • Get tested with a viral test 3-5 days before travel AND after arrival in Chicago  you must self-quarantine for a full 7 days.
  • Even if you test negative, you must self-quarantine for the full 7 days.
  • If your test is positive, isolate yourself to protect others from getting infected.
  • If you don’t get tested, you must self-quarantine for 10 days after arrival.
  • Avoid being around people who are at increased risk for severe illness for 14 days, whether you get tested or not.
